How many adults are vaping in Australia?

Vaping prevalence increasing, but far too slowly..

The latest statistics indicate that vaping among adult ex-smokers is ever increasing, albeit at a slower rate than other western countries. Thanks to our outdated draconian regulations, making the transition to a proven, healthier alternative, continues to be difficult for a fairly high percentage of Australians; particularly for the disadvantaged and indigenous peoples.

The fact that nicotine, (considered to be somewhat of a wonder drug by an increasing number of medical and science professionals) is easily accessible for tobacco smokers, yet, liquid nicotine for vaping is illegal to be sold domestically, is in a nutshell, both absurd and counterproductive.

Whilst the NNA continues to be involved in the political side of advocacy, much of our focus moving forward is meeting with smokers and offering them an opportunity to experiment with vaping..

Vaping Statistics

According to the latest research, 227,000 or 1.2% of the population aged 18 years or above were reported to be current vapers, however, these stats are from 2016.

ATHRA posted a blog with full details here.
